A perfectly balanced, medium roast coffee. Sweet and complex with a long smooth finish.  Brazil brings body, good sweetness and a long, smooth aftertaste. Colombia and Guatemala provide juicy apple acidity, caramel and milk chocolate tones. The wet-hulled Sumatra brings great body, some spice and earthy notes, dark fruit notes and sweetness.

Roasted a little darker than Allpress Espresso Blend, we take the development further to soften the acidity and introduce richer chocolate notes.  The backbone of this blend is the Brazil which brings a big body and some sweet cocoa.  A honey processed coffee from DR Congo brings dark chocolate and subtle dried fruit notes.  The Colombian provides a touch of acidity to provide some balance, as well as milk chocolate and sweetness.

Another good match for the Allpress Espresso Blend, our water processed decaf blends Brazil and Guatemalan beans to produce a well-balanced blend with prominent notes of chocolate, caramel/toffee and citrus. Brazil should be nutty with lots of body, malt, toffee, chocolate, soft acidity, great sweetness and a long smooth finish. Guatemala has more chocolate and caramel, as well as a lovely citric acidity and citrus fruit flavours.

Haus Decaf Blend

This washed coffee is a team effort from a co-operative of over 900 smallholder farmers.  Each farmer grows only a small amount to supplement their household income, before delivering whole coffee cherries to the Halo Fafate washing station in Yirgacheffe for processing.

This is our first release of an Ethiopian coffee from the most recent harvest, and represents a truly quintessential experience of how coffee has been produced, processed and sold for decades.  As is typical for the vast majority of coffee from Ethiopia, farmers sell their cherries to the nearest washing station (Halo Fafate in this case), where it is blended with the cherries of other farmers.  It is then sorted (looking for the odd unripe bean that may have been picked) before being pulped, washed and then dried on raised beds.  

This coffee is an incredibly clean and juicy example of what the Yirgacheffe region has become famous for.

Roasted lighter than Allpress Espresso Blend, this blend is for those who like their coffee a bit brighter and juicier.  A washed Ethiopian brings delicate floral aromas with sparkling acidity and tea-like body.  This is balanced with a natural processed Guatemalan that brings jammy, berry sweetness.  All of this sits on a base of Brazil that brings body, sweetness, a slight citrus note, and a good, long aftertaste.

DR Congo – Women’s Coffee Project

Another microlot from Peru, this washed coffee is from producer Lelis Banda Corrales and their farm La Arena – La Chonta.  This coffee stood out as a great representation of the best of Peruvian washed coffee, and reminded us of a Tart Berry Crumble with Vanilla Custard.

Banka farm and washing station is based in Menglian Dai, Lahu and Va Autonomous County. This Natural Catimor was predominantly grown and harvested in the nearby village of Aqi Badu by the Lahu – an ethnic group that lives across China, Myanmar, Laos and Thailand.

In the cup, you'll find a very clean coffee with a sweet, round body and refreshing finish.

Kaku is a family run farm and washing station led by Mr Li, which processes coffee grown by local smallholders as well as their own.

Mr Li and his family have been growing and processing commercial grade coffee for over 20 years - the focus on specialty is less than 5 years old.

Commitment to quality combined with higher than usual elevation means it is already producing excellent lots. This washed Catimor has a great refreshing acidity, with a nice sweetness tying it up.

The Kaku farm is located in Paliang, the largest coffee producing area in Menglian Dai, Lahu and Va Autonomous County, Yunnan.

This lot has been pulped and dry fermented for 12-24 hours before being washed. The drying takes place on patios for roughly 12-16 days.

Kaku is Allpress' third ever Chinese release, and like the prior two, has been sourced by our patners at Indochina.

Indochina has been working in partnership with Yunnan Coffee Traders since they first began importing coffees to the UK in 2016.

China Kaku

As is common for coffee lots made up from several producers (in this case over 750), the Gatugi AA is a combination of varieties (in this case Ruiru 11, Batian, SL28 and SL34).  

SL28 and SL34 are special varieties developed by a company called Scott Laboratories who began work in Kenya in the 1920’s with the ultimate goal of creating a variety that produced incredible tasting coffee, as well as high crop yield and drought resistance.  SL28 and SL34 were their success stories, and are they’re most commonly found in Kenya. 

Gatugi AA

This coffee was imported by Primavera Coffee Importers, who we are fortunate to have purchased several Guatemalan coffee from in the past. As a family company with four generations of coffee producers, they have a rich coffee tradition and expertise specific to producing in and exporting from Guatemala. 

Fundamental to their business model is the idea that 'sustainability' must not only take environmental welfare into consideration, but also profitability for the producer. Their work with producers (including Ismar Cano who owns 'La Joya') is inspiring, encouraging truly sustainable operations focussed on producing high quality coffee that is sold for a price a producer can live from.

This small, natural lot from Sítio Beija Flor is the work of daughter and father Viviane Aparecida Quintana and Bernado Quintana Neto. 

Beija Flor translates literally as ‘flower kisser’ which is an elegant description of the beautiful hummingbirds which are common on the farm. Unsurprisingly from that description, this coffee is very sweet, with notes of milk choc, orange and toffee.

The harvest here is 100% manual, as would be expected of a farm this size. Each lot is marked and separated as it is delivered to the patio. The coffee cherries are then turned around ten times each day to ensure even drying. 

Divinolândia's coffee producers have been organising in an effort to get recognition as a region for producing outstanding coffees - comparable to the Protected Designation of Origin label you can find across the European Union. 

Contrary to the typically huge Brazilian coffee farm, places like Sítio Beija Flor are generally small, family-run farms where coffee cherries are hand-picked with the quality of the final cup in mind. 

This coffee made its way to us via Cargo Coffee, whose purposae is to locate high potential, underrepresented Brazilian coffee producers who share the same commitment and meticulous dedication needed to be able to produce quality coffees year after year.
