This coffee is all about the body. It’s like Iggy Pop and Steven Tyler fused their chests together to create the greatest torso in rock history. Fortunately it doesn’t taste like Iggy though. Instead it’s like a rich chocolate hug served in a vintage suit of armor as Ian Anderson serenades you with his flute while standing on one foot. This coffee is for people who love their coffee with milk, who don’t like anything too fruity and who make their coffee buying decisions based on what’s cheapest.

Canada is to music what Guatemala is to coffee. Brazil/America gets all the output and Ethiopia/England have all the history but when you sit down with a tasty Guatemalan you know you’re not going to be disappointed. Let’s torture this metaphor. An espresso with a hint of Joni Mitchell? Yes please. A V60 with a Rush complexity and a Celine Dion finish? Sign me up. A babycino with a sprinkling of Drake for the young people? Why not. A flat white but instead of milk it’s made with Bryan Adams and Mel C’s song “When you’re gone” but Mel has been replaced by Alanis Morissette? Superb! A French press brewed extra strong to evoke memories of the Barenaked Ladies? You’ve lost me

Did You Forget About Me

Location - Gedeb, Ethiopia
Variety - Heirloom

This coffee really is something special. It’s got all of the classic Ethiopian flavours but without too much in the way of floral notes so still works great on espresso and with milk. Incredibly versatile. Probably not as versatile as Dr Steve Gadd though. Simon & Garfunkel, Steely Dan, James Taylor, Harry Chapin, Eric Clapton, Kate Bush, Joe Cocker, Grover Washington Jr., Chick Corea etc. Now that’s real versatility! Did you know the drum solo on Aja was a first take? Imagine that. Preferably while drinking this.

One Last Drag

Location - Sabanilla de Alajuela, Central Valley, Costa Rica
Variety - Caturra and Catuai

This coffee is the taste equivalent to the bass slide at the start of “Never Too much” by Luther Vandross. It’s all creamy smoothness that leads you in to a beautiful world of sweet and fruity happiness. Also for the record Luther Vandross is the greatest singer that has ever lived and we have a framed poster of him up in the roastery to remind us to try to be more like him in every way. The SCA has yet to respond to our petition to have one sent to every roastery in the world
