It is time to welcome our next Guatemalan showcase, El Carpintero. Classic Guatemala, the delicate freshness, honey texture and almond-nougat finish combined with the dreamy, sweet comfort of this lot is like floating on a cloud. Produced by Herminio Lopez Mazariegos, we came across this lot through our export/import partner, Primavera Coffee. Like the many small-scale speciality exporters in Guatemala, Nadine of Primavera focuses on bringing to light farmers who may not have the pedigree of a Cup of Excellence win or the ability to market themselves directly to international roasters. Assisting independent producers, the Primavera agronomy team also works with eight producer cooperatives. Solid relationships with cooperatives are vital to the region's success as they help farmers with critical needs, such as access to credit to invest in their farms.
