Botanical Punk is our roasters pick and changes throughout the year. Of all the coffees we roast this one we think will really surprise you and showcase the region.  We are continually travelling the world to find and work with green coffee producers that share our passion for quality and when we find them we are always excited to share them with you. When roasting Botanical Punk our focus is on highlighting sweetness, acidity and all the complex flavours that can be discovered in these unique coffees. The Boschessi washing station is located in the West of the Guji Zone. It was formed in 2002 when the districts of the Borena Zone were split apart to create it. Guji is named after the largest ethnic group in Ethiopia, the Oromo people and represents 34.5% of Ethiopia’s population. The Guji zone offers unique flavour and is very distinct from Sidamo (the previously considered sub-region).
The coffee is picked at optimum ripeness and dried on raised beds for 15 – 17 days. This means airflow both above and below the coffee making the drying process easier and more efficient than patio drying.
The Heirloom coffee variety is a term used to include many varieties of coffee in Ethiopia. The small farms where this coffee is grown are farming on red clay soil which is rich in minerals such as aluminium and iron and then taken to the washing station to get processed.
We roast these beans light-medium and you will pick up blackberry, chocolate and jasmine notes. A delicious Ethiopian brew and well worth a try.
