Artisan coffee roasters based in Exeter, Devon. We are small batch roasters of specialty coffee beans, supplying both the public and wholesale customers.

We are a small artisan coffee roastery based in Exeter, Devon. We roast in small batches to keep things as fresh as possible and try to always have something a little bit interesting on offer!

Espresso Elemental Blend

The Swiss Water process is an organic decaffeination process that is 100% chemical free. With a combination of water, temperature and time the caffeine is removed but the full flavour of the coffee remains in the beans. The decaffeination process takes 10 hours to complete.

Costa Rica Decaf

This coffee is grown within the central highlands provinces of Burundi at around 1500 metres above sea level. The coffee varietal, Mibrizi, that makes up this particular lot is one of the oldest varieties of coffee in the region.

The washing station that processes the green beans is involved in many local community projects such as providing healthcare and training for nearby farmers. Alongside this, they provide seedlings for new coffee planting as well as for the development of shade-giving trees.

Bukhorka Burundi

The Grupo Terruno Nayarita is based within the Tepec community on the western coast of Mexico. They are tucked in between the Pacific and the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains and is made up from roughly 600 members.

This particular coffee is produced by three communities, Cofradia de Chocolon, El Cuarenteno, and La Yerba. The result is a delicious, smooth coffee with notes of chocolate and cherries.

Terruno Nayarita Mexico

Zawadi consists of carefully selected peaberries from the Kamandi and Ndiaini coffee factories. Fresh water from the Gikira river is used for processing. Zawadi is Kiswahili and means ‘Gift’.

Zawadi Peaberry Kenya

Named after the Gallito de Las Rocas, widely regarded as the national bird of Peru, this fruit forward stunner of a coffee is produced on the edges of protected natural areas. As a result the biodiversity and environmental practices they use are at the forefront of the way these farms produce their coffee.

After being picked the coffee is fermented in wooden tanks made from fallen Romerillo trees. By being made out of wood they are able to cope with the heat that is generated as the coffee ferments. The attention to detail paid to the beans throughout  the entire growing and processing procedure has resulted in a delightful coffee with notes of caramel and baked apple.

El Gallito Peru

La Esperanza farm is situated in the Trujillo municipality and is one of 5 farms making up the Cafe Granja La Esperanza. It contains around 96,500 trees over 34.3 hectares. Often seen in pictures due to the picturesque U shaped house surrounding a courtyard, it produces 11 lots that make up the full offerings from CGLE.

This particular coffee contains one of the newer varietals that have come from these producers, Mandela. This varietal was produced by initially selecting from a self pollinated Caturra varietal, containing the very best characteristics of its type. This was then crossed with a number of other varietals to give it other desirable properties such as resistance to rust. The best performing offspring were then selected to be grown and the result of this is an incredibly good example of Colombian coffee and one that we think will become a real favourite. 

La Esperanza Estate

The San Francisco Farm, one of the most significant estates of the JASAL group, does not only produce coffee, but also has a natural forest reserve which was donated to the National Forest Association of El Salvador with the purpose to preserve a beautiful habitat to many exotic plant and animal species. At the highest part of this reserve lies a one of a kind lagoon home to thousands of frogs that depending on the time of the year, you can see them jumping all at once in this lagoon. These frogs have not only become a part of the farm itself, but part of the JASAL group and family, symbolizing a culture of environmental help and preservation. Cerro Las Ranas is one of the specialty coffees that come from the San Francisco Farm that symbolizes these frogs, frog means ‘Ranas’ in Spanish and ‘Cerro’ means mountain or hill. The brand is recognized for its semi-washed process and specific chocolate notes that arise from the method and the mucilage left on the coffee bean before it dries on the patios.

Cerro Las Ranas

The Enorga comes from the Highlands Organic Agriculture Co-operative Ltd (HOAC) in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea, which was established to develop a dedicated approach to growing organic and Fairtrade certified products.

The Co-operative currently supports 2604 farmers spread across 32 villages, who in turn support up to 12000 family members.
