Café Femenino Peru is a medium bodied coffee with a fine acidity, sweet aroma and hints of baker’s chocolate that are accentuated by a slow, medium dark roast.

This is a coffee grown high in the Andes in far north Peru. The story of Café Femenino began in 2004 when women farmers from northern Peru began talking with their cooperative leaders about their desire to separate their coffee from the men’s. These female members of CECANOR felt they put more care into their production, creating a superior product. Today, the Café Femenino Coffee Project is a social program for women coffee producers in rural communities around the world, creating greater gender equality in families, cooperatives, and communities. More than 1,500 women in Bolivia, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Mexico and Peru are active in the project to achieve empowerment, build social and support networks, and earn incomes through the production and sale of the Café Femenino Coffee. Café Femenino Coffee is imported exclusively by OPTCO and distributed by more than 80 roasters whom pay a premium above the fair trade price.
