Arlex, our new filter coffee from Colombia, is the result of the collaboration with “La Real Expedición Botánica”. In short: «La REB» is a collective of coffee farmers from Colombia. Your goal is to be better represented on the coffee market through this merger and to keep the greater added value in the origin.

La REB enables us coffee roasters to have direct contact with coffee farmers, while at the same time the collective exchanges knowledge about coffee growing and organizes the logistics. Our contact with Herbert Peñaloza, the co-founder of La REB, was very open, honest and never at a loss for a joke right from the start. Or to translate it in Spanish: "yes yes yes".

This washed coffee from Arlex Muñoz has an interesting property: While most coffee farmers bring their freshly picked coffee cherries down the mountain every day in order to pulp them at home and process them further, Arlex leaves the harvest in its plantation. The reason for this is the difficult accessibility of Arlex 'Lot. At an altitude of 1900 to 2100 meters above sea level, the workload to carry hundreds of kilos of coffee cherries down the mountain would be enormous. Instead, the cherries stay in the bags they were picked in and begin natural fermentation. Then Arlex drives every 2 or 3 days with a pulper up the mountain to his plantation and pulp the coffee cherries there.
