The coffee plantations of the “Fazenda da Lagoa” are located in the northeast of the famous Sul de Minas cultivation region in the province of Minas Gerais at an altitude of around 1,100 m.

The origins of the “Fazenda da Lagoa” go back to the year 1764, when the Portuguese royal family transferred the lands to the Portuguese settler Manoel Ferreira Carneiro. He is the oldest ancestor of today's agricultural director Joaquim Paiva.
The fazenda is one of the oldest coffee farms in the “Campo das Vertentes” region and has remained almost unchanged to this day. The first coffee trees were planted in the middle of the 19th century.

In February 2003, this 3,404 hectare farm, which was medium-sized by Brazilian standards, became the property of the Neumann Group. Located at around 1,100 m above sea level, the climatic conditions are ideal for growing coffee.
About 1,850 hectares are cultivated with coffee with a plant density of about 3,450 trees per hectare.
In total, the plantation consists of around 5.7 million trees of the varieties Mundo Novo, Catuai, Icatu, Yellow Bourbon, Acayá, Catucaí, and Topazio.
The harvest takes place in the months of May to September and ships in the months of November to March. About 30,000 bags are produced.

The coffee is prepared on the farm. Here it is dried, peeled and, after 30 days of storage in drying silos, sent to the exporter in Varginhas for further processing.
