Filled to the brim with fruit and sugary fudge notes, our morning wake-me ups and coffee breaks are taking on a whole new level of deliciousness with Sasaba from Ethiopia. Located in the hilly district of Kercha, Sasaba Washing Sation, founded by Tsegay Hagos Tesfaye, takes in coffee from 500 smallholders working in the hills surrounding the wet mill. A mix of Gedeo and Guji farmers, many have lived in this region for generations and grow coffee under a combination of cultivated shade trees and existing forests. Invested in the community, Tsegay Hagos Tesfaye and the Sasaba wet mill offer training and support to farmers to eventually market and sell their own coffee, growing the region and its producers. A great example of the classic Guji flavour profile with typical notes ranging from stone fruit, soft tropicals and berries, Sasaba is one to keep an eye on!
