STORY

This coffee comes from the Worka processing plant in the village of Sakaro in the district of Gedeb. The plant is owned and operated by Daniel Mijan with eight years of experience with processing plants in Worka Sakaro and Banko Gotiti. Together with his brothers and father, Daniel oversees aspects of quality in the processing plant.

The Worka plant collects coffee from up to 500 small farmers who grow their coffee locally. On average, each of the farms has an area of ​​1-2 hectares with about 2,000 trees planted on each of them. Approximately 3 kg of cherries can be harvested from each tree.

The varieties grown here are called the original Ethiopian varieties. It is a mixture of local forest coffee trees planted on the grounds of small family farms with the Typica variety, as well as some new and improved varieties that are based on old trunks such as Welisho and Kurume.
