Sitio Bandeira Branca has been in the dutra family since 2004 when thiago's father bought it to raise dairy cattle. However, over the past decade the dairy industry has become more difficult to make a living and when thiago, simone, maria and katia grew up, they decided to switch from dairy to coffee in 2016. The first coffee trees qu 'they planted came from funds secured by the sale of milk. Later, they sold the cows to pay off their debts to focus only on coffee.

By making a clean sweep, the family but especially katia, simone and maria the three sisters learned to grow coffee on the farm with their brother thiago. Thanks to their thirst for learning, their energy and attention to detail, they were able to produce specialty coffee from their first harvest.

The coffees are picked mechanically because the ground is flat enough for a mechanical picker. Coffees are separated by batch and variety. On the farm they have yellow bourbon and yellow catuai, topazio and yellow bourbon. After that, the coffee is then separated and dried on the terrace for two days before being placed in static boxes where it is then dried at 30 degrees centigrade for 9 days. Then the coffee will rest and then it can be shelled on the farm and sieved once to separate the green qualities (bica 1 and bica 2).

The family delivers coffee to cocatrel with whom they have worked for 2 harvests.

Katia, maria and simone are also part of the cafeina women's group which is part of the cocatrel cooperative. This group was formed to increase the participation of the 1154 associate women. They have bimonthly meetings to help improve education and knowledge of culture and process. Thus, they gain real credibility as a coffee farmer.
