Flores boasts breathtaking scenery, spectacular volcanoes, hot springs, clear blue seas and pristine beaches, with black, white or even pink sand. Back in the days , the Portuguese explorers in the early 16th century appreciated the splendour of the place by naming it Flores meaning “flowers”. It’s part of the Lesser Sounds island chain in Eastern Indonesia, just a 90 minute flight from Bali.

The island of Flores is a culturally very diverse place. It can be roughly divided into 10 ethnicities with their own local languages, Indonesia is widely spoken as well all over the island, as it is the national language of Indonesia. Flores has kept tradition among the strong current of modernisation. Ceremonies are held at major events in people’s lives and communal rituals are performed to bless sowing, planting, or harvesting. Our coffee is named after a traditional dance which expresses gratefulness.

Bajawa is the hometown of the De’Gabo family. Located in the Ngada District, on the slopes of Volcano Irenie, Bajawa offers very fertile soils to it’s population. In addition to coffee, rice, maize and coconut are the main crops of the island.
