Usually I stick to lighter roasts with more delicate flavor but decided to try the darker beans that came with their sample box. I had high hopes for this roast-- at the outset I got an aroma of almond and marshmallow. Sweet but not overpowering. However, the flavor was surprisingly flat and not very complex. High bitterness and ultra-high body. I did pick up some dark chocolate and almond, plus a little bit of burnt toast, but it was tough to discern through the bitterness.
