Kivubelt is a boutique coffee group of three estates in the Nyamasheke region in Western Rwanda.  Furaha Umwizey, the head of the Kivubelt group, set out to create a model coffee plantation focused on sustainable agriculture, as well as providing locals with employment and empowerment.  This laid the groundwork for 90,000 coffee trees being planted, and hiring 400 people during harvest months. This also acts as a vocational school for other local smallholders looking to improve their farming practices. 

This coffee was ethically sourced by the family-owned and operated importers at Royal Coffee based out of Oakland, California. This particular coffee is a local bourbon variety that has been found to offer an ever expanding variety of mouth-watering flavor experiences. It was farmed from the Jarma estate, which covers a total of 56 acres, and is the largest in the Kivubelt group.
