Nestled between the epic Eastern & Western Highlands region of Papua New Guinea is the mountainous Waghi Valley. The Dako Coffee Wet Mill provides employment for over 200 people in the neighbouring communities, many smallholder coffee farmers and subsistence farmers, many of whom rely on coffee as their main cash crop. This mill is 100% nationally owned set up with support and partnership  with local landowners of Nondugl district (Koltaibol, Elutura & Komdbalwa tribal groups) and Monpi Coffee Exports.  While most coffee is grown and managed from smallholder village garden trees (Arabica Typica) and sold at the mill, the mill also purchases cherry from the locally managed plantation blocks that were established in colonial days (plantations established by Australian colonial settlers).
