El Planadas is a smooth washed process Colombia with notes of creamy milk chocolate, toasted almonds and a sweet medium body.

This is the first year that we have purchased from the Planadas Community Mill and we are really happy with the results. The Community development programme is centralised around hamlets of Planadas, Colombia.

Representing approximately 86 villages the project’s aim is to develop a stable economic environment for each farmer, allowing higher levels of visibility with a focus on sustainable farming and trade. The community project is based on a resource and profit share system allowing farmers to build sustainable production relationships with buyers and we are glad to be part of this experience.

Manco Kapak is a group of producers who got together to harvest their cherries and bring them to the Buena Vista Mill in Caranavi to be processed.

Our newest offering from El Salvador is a Natural Processed lot from the San Carlos Dos farm.

The farm has 126 Associate members with their families all living on the land together working on the farm as a group with the land split into 25 separate lots. Originally, they just grew pacas and bourbon and have recently added a small amount of Pacamara in the higher lots of the farm. The wet mill and patios for the processing the coffee is situated at 1400masl up the mountain providing a perfect location for drying the coffees as it is situated facing north/north east which is the direction of the prevailing winds which helps to maintain stable temperatures for drying coffees.

Our latest offering from Ethiopia comes from a small group of farmers lead by Buriso Amaje.

With recent changes to export laws in Ethiopia, small producers are now able to market their coffee directly, by many struggle to do so financially. So Falcon Coffees have prefinanced this group of smallholder, believing in the potential of the group. This group is from the Bensa district of Sidama.

Returning again from our friends at Coffee Bird, is the ever popular Bosque de San Francisco. A favourite of the staff, this year we have opted for the Natural Processed version.

Based in the region of Antigua, Manuel Matheu was the original owner of Finca Filadelfia, which still remains in the family today and of which, Bosque de San Francisco is a one quarter of the original farm.

New from our friends at Coffee Bird is from the Villaure farm. Aurelio grew up on his father’s farm and after leaving school he went back and learned the ins and outs of farming. In 1986 he brought his own farm and named it by combining his first and last names.

Villaure has competed 4 times in the Cup of Excellence and been awarded Best Farmer in Guatemala and Best Farmer in Huehuetenango by Illy.

We sell a surprising amount of decaf coffee at Hot Numbers because it is incredibly good!

The decaffeination process removes caffeine from the green bean before roast. At Hot Numbers, we only source high quality decaffeinated coffees that use natural methods to extract the caffeine, such as sparkling water and CO2 processes. We believe these are much more appealing than the alternative chemical processes used.

It is often indiscernible that you are drinking a decaffeinated coffee and at times our staff have genuinely preferred the decaf coffee to its caffeinated brothers and sisters!

Rest assured that at Hot Numbers we always take decaf seriously. We invest in high quality green stock, sourced from our trusted suppliers and farms and roast with the same level of detail we apply to all our other coffees. This is the reason that again and again our decaffeinated coffee doesn’t hang around long and is as popular as any other coffee, just without the caffeine buzz. Enjoy!

The current rendition of our Thumper Decaf is from a blend of coffees from the area around Jaen, the main city in the Caramarca region in northern Peru.

A perfect blending of Brazilian coffee and Colombian Coffee give us a syrupy bodied coffee with tastes of chocolate and citrus fruits. Works great as a crowd pleasing espresso or a full bodied and sweet filter coffee.

Named after a song written by written in 1930 with music by Johnny Green and lyrics by Edward Heyman, Robert Sour and Frank Eyton and performed by many artists including Louis Armstrong (who first recorded it), Billie Holiday and more recently Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse.

Our best seller at Hot Numbers and our very first blend. We are proud to serve this 50/50 seasonal roast of South American and African beans. In your cup you will find a deliciously smooth coffee with flavours of chocolate and nuts and some sweet citrus and berry fruitiness. Named after a jazz standard by American trumpeter Bobby Shaw, we think this Breakfast Wine blend exemplifies our crowd pleasing coffee perfectly. A Hot Numbers staple that's here to stay!

How to drink this roast: It’s a real crowd pleaser. We would suggest it as an espresso but it’ll give you great results with any brew process.

Our latest Brazilian offering is pulped natural from Fazenda Pantano Tasting Notes: Velvety mouthfeel, smooth milk chocolate, gentle berry fruitiness

Fazenda Pantano is located in Cerrado, close to the city of Patos de Minas. The farm has over 200 varietals, most of which are in experimental production. The farm works closely with the Brazilian Coffee Research Institute to experiment with processing and flavours.

The largest red cherries are picked and separated in the post harvest process. The skin is removed, leaving the seed still encased with fruit. The bean is then laid out on the raised drying beds, being frequently turned to allow even drying.

This years Rocko Mountain Reserve from Falcon comes from Bogale woreda (neighbourhood) on the Idido side of the Rocko Mountain. It comes from a small area (10.1 hectares) of semi forest land dedicated to coffee growing under shade trees. Once picked, its delivered to the central drying station in Yirgacheffe town.
