This coffee comes from the farm Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza, which belongs to Marcos Croce and Silvia Barretto who initiated the ambitious Bob-O-Link project

Returning from the USA to take over the reins of the family farm initially run in intensive monoculture, the couple made the courageous choice to start from scratch with this farm which they symbolically renamed “Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza”. Their goal being to obtain much more than specialty coffee, Sylvia and Marcos put all their energy into learning coffee culture and bringing their neighbors together around their project in order to obtain “integral quality” for all. Their wish was indeed to produce an economically, ecologically and socially sustainable coffee. A very difficult challenge to take up in the great coffee-producing country of Brazil; which they are nevertheless in the process of accomplishing.

What was initially a farm project is today the way of life of 50 neighboring coffee growers involved in the production of Bob-o-link coffee (in Mococa, Sao Paulo and Caparao, Espirito Santo). Using the FAF as a model, the farms follow and adopt a quality charter which aims to strive for sustainable production through environmentally friendly practices while ensuring the profitability of the farms and offering excellent quality coffee.

All the member farms undertake to use no chemicals, to plant shade trees for coffee trees and for the farm, to create irrigation canals to preserve water, to install African beds. & sorting machines on farms, to selectively harvest by hand, but also to learn how to taste their coffees in order to actively participate in quality improvement. Alternative productions must also be set up in each partner farm so as not to be dependent on a single production (honey, milk, fruits and vegetables, etc.).

The quality of water, soil, biodiversity, workers' health and education are monitored, but also the economic health of farms, the transparency of operations and the quality of coffee.
