In Amharic, Biftu Gudina means "ray of development”. The high altitude and rich fertile soil of the Agaro-Goma woreda (district) within the Jimma zone in South Western Ethiopia produces an incredibly complex and luscious cup. This washing station and coop was established in 2012 in connection with Technoserve (NGO) and Falcon Coffee and is made up of 150 smallholder farms. The cherries are carefully sorted and processed while maintaining a high regard for local environmental impact at Biftu Gudina.

Before our Cognoscenti opened, the staff at these pop-up shops had been perfecting the art of a perfectly brewed cup of coffee. Our passion in this form of liquid gold.
