Brazil Decaf CO2

This is  decaffeinated coffee  in our offer. Coffee is processed by the CO2 process. Coffee is grown in volcanic soil, in the shade of banana trees, which gives it a fantastic taste. In the Mont Elgon mountain area, it has more than favorable conditions to become a popular coffee for its full taste and low acidity. It is the eastern region of Uganda on the border with Kenya. During the preparation, you may not even find that it is decaffeinated coffee, mainly due to the processing process. 

CO2 Process:

The CO2 process takes advantage of the fact that carbon dioxide behaves as a gas and partly as a liquid when compressed, thus acquiring the property of being selectively combined with caffeine. In CO2 processes, the pre-steamed grains are soaked in compressed liquid carbon dioxide and the caffeine is then removed using activated carbon filters. The process is similar to the aqueous process, but in the CO2 process the aromatic components remain in the coffee bean throughout the process, not as in swiss-water processes (experts do not agree on which method is more grain-friendly) and in selective decaffeination, where the aromatic components are soaked and then absorbed again.

This coffee belongs to the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) and is part of a strategy to develop the sale of quality coffee. This is the main role of this office. It also takes care of regional development, especially by guiding young people to the actual roasting or helping to open local cafes. All this is to help one of the poorest countries in the world stand on its own two feet. Coffee in Uganda is the most exported raw material. Tea, cotton or sugar cane and bananas are still doing very well in the country.

We care about packing your coffee so that you can keep it fresh at home for as long as possible. The 250g package has a one-way valve (after roasting, a gas is released that could fill the package, the possibility of the bag bursting, eg during handling, and this valve prevents this and consequently prevents oxygen from entering the package) and a reclosable zipper . Simply close the package after making coffee and your coffee is protected without additional air access. For kilo packages, we use a one-way valve.

Brazil Cerrado Santos 17/18 Flor de mococa NY2

Brazil is the largest producer of coffee and accounts for a third of the world's total annual production. Of course, most are lower class Arabica varieties. But this is not always the case, there are also interesting coffees that can enchant you, such as this one. 

This coffee has a dry (natural) processing, which means that after mechanical harvesting (even with this coffee), the coffee is dried as a whole fruit - cherry. This method ensures that a certain part of the pulp that the grain absorbs into itself is reflected in the massive body during the preparation of coffee, but at the same time the coffee will be sweet and "smooth".

The screen size is 17/18  and therefore the coffee will taste more consistent without the strong fruit tones that can appear in coffees with a smaller grain size.

Designation - classification:

- NY (New York) 2/3 ; is a statement that quality is the standard for the Green Coffee Association in New York. 2/3 refers to the number of defects allowed in the batch; a maximum of nine secondary errors, but without primary (major) errors
- 17/18   is a statement which refers to the grain size. These grains have a uniform size and are, of course, larger than the designation, for example, 14/16. Grain size is generally associated with higher quality
